This original salt print by the pioneers of all forms of now popular photographic genres, captured the sculptor John Henning appears as Edie Ochiltree, in the gardens of Rock House, Calton Hill in Edinburgh.
This fictional character from Sir Walter Scott's novel The Antiquary. with his staff and blue badge indicating his King James higher beggar status, the white-haired Henning closely resembles the figure of Ochiltree as Walter Scott described him in the book.
