Along the coast

Abstractions of the sea

Fading ladies of sandstone courts,
once the wearers of crowns and jewels,
now slipping under time’s caress,
so to fall to the sculptor from time.

The sun threading light across the ripples of sand at high tide on the beach at Scarborough in North Yorkshire. It reminded me of those old carvings on classical buildings or the fading etching of a dance with the ladies standing in a crowd.
